Christie's New York Internship Programs

Structure
Christie's offers Spring, Summer and Fall internships in specialist departments and selected support departments at its Rockefeller Center location in New York. Successful applicants will be placed in available positions according to their interests and background, which will expose them to the operations of an auction house as they perform various administrative/clerical tasks.

All interns must be currently enrolled in school working towards a degree. All internships are unpaid for school credit. We require a letter from the school confirming the student is receiving school credit for this program. If a student is unable to receive school credit, we will require a letter of acknowledgement from the school recognizing that even though they cannot receive school credit, students’ are still encouraged to participate in internships as a supplement to their coursework.

Summer Internship Programs
These two full time six-week programs are scheduled from June 1 - July 9 and July 12 - August 20, 2010. Each identical program offers a hands-on introduction to the inner workings of an auction house and to the New York art world. The Internship will start with a brief orientation, after which each participant will be assigned to a department where he/she will work for the duration of the program. Participants will attend weekly lectures on fine and decorative arts given by Christie's specialists, as well as periodic museum and gallery visits. In addition, all interns are welcome to attend auctions held in our main saleroom at 20 Rockefeller Plaza (49th Street).

Fall and Spring Internship Programs
Participants in these sessions will have the same hands-on experience on a part time basis, with the added benefit of being immersed in various aspects of the auction business during the height of our sale seasons. General internship length for these programs is the same as the auction seasons - Spring (February - May) and Fall (September - December).

Winternship
This full time six-week program is designed for students to work during their Winter break from school. The program is similar to the summer program in structure but on a smaller scale.

International Candidates
International students may apply for a U.S. internship as long as they are a degree-seeking student, have a letter of acknowledgement from their school and have the necessary Visa status. Christie’s does not sponsor Visas for student interns. Eligibility will be determined on a case by case basis.

Housing
Successful applicants are responsible for their own living arrangements.

Application Process
All candidates must apply online for the Americas and indicate they are interested in an internship in New York.
