The Art of the Surreal Evening Sale

The Art of the Surreal Evening Sale

Sale Overview

The 22nd edition of The Art of the Surreal presented by Christie’s will immediately follow the 20th/21st Century: Evening Sale on 28 February.

Leading the sale is Memory of a Surreal Journey, an exceptional grouping from an important San Francisco Bay Area Collection. Built over more than two decades, this collection features outstanding paintings by artists exiled in Mexico including Remedios Varo and Leonora Carrington, which will be shown alongside works by René Magritte, Yves Tanguy, and Oscar Domínguez, among others.

Additional highlights include Paul Delvaux’s Rosine (1968), an early fumage by Wolfgang Paalen, and Homme et Femme (1927), a striking, rare sand painting by André Masson, which will be presented alongside works by Salvador Dalí, Joan Miró, Dorothea Tanning, and many others.
