In 2005, Megs Mahoney was on a swimming scholarship at Ohio State University when she was injured. While Mahoney was recovering, her then boyfriend, Vlad Dusil, registered the domain name PurseBlog.com, knowing that her obsession with luxury handbags could lead to something big. Nine years later, Megs and Vlad are happily married, and together command the Internet’s largest site dedicated to news and reviews of designer handbags. With respect to buying handbags online, Megs has a simple and direct approach: “What do I like and how can I get it?” As the Florida native told Christie’s in a recent phone interview, she bought her first Birkin bag seven years ago, at the Hermés store in New York City: “I had been eyeing it for as long as I can remember,” she explained, “I felt like it was fate—that it was there for me when I needed it.” Megs often wears subdued hues, and is “a firm believer in using your bags to truly accessorize”. Below, she chooses her favorite eye-catching handbags from our latest sale.
