On 1 May, the Fine Chinese Modern and Contemporary Ink Paintings auction will present nearly 200 remarkable artworks. Leading the sale is In Search of Paradise, a masterpiece painted in the 1981 by Zhang Daqian. The auction also features exquisite works, including Blue Landscape by Huang Binhong, Village in Mount Wuyi by Wu Guanzhong, Longevity by Qi Baishi, and Heavenly Horse Galloping across the Sky by Xu Beihong.

Curated with an extraordinary selection from esteemed private collections worldwide, the auction includes works from the Collection of Singapore Bai Hong Lou Master Tan Keng Cheow, Lin Fengmian paintings from the Van Roosbroeck Family Collection, the Harold Wong Collection, the Collection of Loh Cheng Chuan in Penang, the Foh Collection from Singapore, the Collection of the Descendants of Qi Rushan, the M K Lau Collection, and the Kwok Family Collection.

Carmen Shek Cerne is Specialist in the Chinese Paintings Department in Hong Kong and Head of Sale for Chinese Contemporary Ink. She joined Christie’s in 2009 as part of the Associate Specialist Training Program. As part of the team Carmen focuses on client advisory and business getting in Hong Kong and overseas; she is also responsible for research and catalogue production. Prior to joining Christie’s Carmen was Assistant Curator at the Hong Kong Maritime Museum at the time when the museum first opened its doors to the public in 2005. Carmen has lived in Italy and the UK, and she graduated from University College London with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Ancient History and Social Anthropology.
