The 500 years: European Decorative Arts sale is now entitled Le goût français. The sale presents exceptional works alongside European private collections, such as that of Artur Pires de Lima from a private mansion in Lisbon, illustrating the French influence in the classical Decorative Arts. Highlights include a pair of Louis XIV Boulle marquetry bookcases stamped by Nicolas Sageot, two early 19th century Sèvres biscuit and porcelain ‘Lions canéphores’, and an impressive Carrara marble figure of Psyche, signed Valerio Villareale, 1843. The silver department offers a fine selection of works by Charles-Nicolas Odiot including a pair of candelabra, a pair of dolphin saltshakers, and a silver gilt écuelle by Jean-Henri Oertel.
