Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Auction

Sale Overview
Christie’s is proud to kick off the February 2015 Post-War & Contemporary Art Day Auction with a selection of stunning works in support of Goldsmiths. Generously donated by the college’s most renowned alumni such as Young British Artists Damien Hirst, Sarah Lucas and Anya Gallaccio, the sale’s proceeds will go to fund the institution’s gallery – an extraordinary platform for art students to exhibit and engage with curators and artists from all over the world. Further highlights of our Day Auction include works by American artists Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat and Wade Guyton as well as a strong selection of works by Germany’s leading painters: Blinky Palermo, Sigmar Polke, Gerhard Richter, Gunther Forg, Martin Kippenberger and Albert Oehlen. In addition, the auction builds on the success of our annual Italian Sale, held each October, offering a selection of works by Lucio Fontana, Alighiero Boetti, Alberto Burri and Dadamaino. Further contemporary highlights include works by Will Boone and James Crone, who have never appeared at auction before.
