The Au Bak Ling Collection: The Inaugural Sale

Sale Overview
Christie’s Hong Kong is honoured to announce the highly anticipated Inaugural Sale of Chinese ceramics amassed by the esteemed Hong Kong collector Au Bak Ling (1928-2019). For over 50 years, Mr. Au was relentless in his pursuit of the rarest and most highly prized Chinese ceramics and succeeded in forming a magnificent collection featuring treasures and representative pieces from each dynastic era from the Song to the Qing dynasties. The sale highlight is the early Ming dynasty blue and white ‘flowers of the four seasons’ vase, yuhuchunping from the Yongle period (1403-1425). The sale also comprises an array of Qing dynasty imperial ceramics, showcasing the masterful innovations of the ceramicists working at the imperial kilns in Jingdezhen, including an extremely rare doucai and gilt-decorated ‘anbaxian’ vase from the Qianlong period (1736-1795). A portion of the proceeds from the sale will be donated to charitable initiatives.”
