Christie’s HK 20th/21st Century Art Leads the Asia Auction Market

The 20th and 21st Century Sale Series in Hong Kong and Shanghai has led the Asian market this season, with eight of the top ten artworks sold in Asia being auctioned by Christie’s. Featuring a curated selection of masterpieces, the series also set 18 world auction records.

The live sales in Hong Kong saw nearly half of the lots selling above their high estimates. A standout among the highlights, Jean-Michel Basquiat's Sabado por la Noche (Saturday Night), emerged as the most valuable piece in Asia this season, fetching HK$112,625,000 / US$14,544,212.
