Rare first edition of this commentary on the rule of St. Benedict, composed in 1486 by the Celestine monk Thibault Artaud (prior of Marcoussis and Limay and later provincial of France). The work enjoyed renewed attention in the 17th century, when it was heavily drawn on by the abbé de Rancé. Brunet puts the date of this edition at not earlier than 1510; the Dictionnaire de Spiritualité gives the date of 1520. Brunet II, 1138; Renouard-Moreau I, p.349, 1510, no.15.
