Late 19th-century brown crushed morocco blindstamped to an antique strapwork design, blindstamped turn-ins, by G. Vignal.
Rare first edition of this commentary on the rule of St. Benedict, composed in 1486 by the Celestine monk Thibault Artaud (prior of Marcoussis and Limay and later provincial of France). The work enjoyed renewed attention in the 17th century, when it was heavily drawn on by the abbé de Rancé.
