FIRST EDITION OF THE ARABIC VERSION OF THE PSALMS TAKEN FROM THE PESHITTA, the standard Syriac version of the Bible. Produced under the patronage of Count Savary de Brèves, French ambassador at Constantinople from 1591 to 1606, and at Rome from 1608, whose famous founts of Arabic type were cut in the Levant and corrected by the type-founder Guillaume Le Bé in Paris. In Rome he established his own printing press under Stephanus Paulinus, but only two books were issued. After his death, his founts were acquired by Antoine Vitré and used for the Paris Polyglot.
