DOLCE, Lodovico. Il primo libro di Sacripante. Venice: F. Bindoni & M. Pasini, June 1536.

4° (209 x 148mm). Large woodcut on title-page of Eros dragging a bound giant. 18th-century Italian vellum.

Second edition, but the first to contain ten canti, of Dolce's sequel to Orlando furioso. The fine woodcut on the title-page has been ascribed by some to Giovanni Antonio Pordenone, and it is interesting to note that Dolce mentions him twice in the book, once in the preface and again in Canto 10. The second book was never published. Rava 2452 bis, b; Mortimer, Harvard Italian 156; Olschki Choix V, 5597.
