LEONARDI, Camillo. Lunari al modo de Italia calculato. Composto nella cita de Pesaro...E agiontoui li zorni de la luna quelli che son boni a far qualche tuo effecto & quali son rei. Venice: Giovanni Andrea Vavassori, 14 April 1530.

8° (152 x 97mm). 24 leaves. Title printed in red and black and with a large woodcut of an astronomer seated and making a calculation, behind him a city in flames and partly in ruins, the first three lines of the title and the names of the months in the text in gothic letter, the rest of the title and text in roman. (Quire B misbound, a few light spots and stains, top margin of the last two leaves slightly frayed.) In a modern binding made out of part of a seventeenth century vellum leaf.

One of at least eight editions, all of which are rare, of this popular work written for the use of astronomers/astrologers in order to forecast lunar conjunctions, oppositions and eclipses from 1530 to 1551. The last sixteen leaves contain various prognostications, tables of propitious days for bloodletting and some interesting dietary advice. The fine woodcut on the title-page is a copy of an engraving by Giulio Campagnola. Sander 3941; Essling 1649.
