2° (362 x 233mm). 8pp. subscriber's list. 33 engraved images on 20 plates (seven folding) by George Bickham junior. (Some light spotting or browning.) Contemporary speckled calf, spine gilt in seven compartments with raised bands, red morocco lettering-piece in the second, the others with elephant crest surrounded by various small tools (slight damage to surface of leather on covers). Provenance: Sir Andrew Fountaine (subscriber, binding).

A FINE, LARGE SUBSCRIBER'S COPY OF THE FIRST EDITION. "Perry travelled from 1739 to 1742 and amassed a great deal of information, particularly on Egypt; most of the plates illustrate Egyptian antiquities. The work also contains a detailed account of the Revolution of the Janissaries in 1730 with a portrait of the rebel leader Patrona": Blackmer 1291.
