Lot Essay

Charles R. Hajdamach, op. cit. (1991), p. 40, notes that the cut-glass table-service used at the dinner on 18th September 1806 created such an impression upon the Prince of Wales that he requested the Mayor to order him 'a few dozen glasses of the same sort'.
