FIRST EDITION. With a slip giving names of 2 other publishers (Drucker & Senigaglia, Padua, and Carlo Drucker, Verona) mounted below imprint. Bassini's radical new operation for the cure of inguinal hernia was first presented in papers read before the Italian Surgical Society and the Italian Medical Association in 1887 and 1888. These first papers were not illustrated, and were soon followed by this first in-depth discussion of the procedure.
