A George III mahogany and chequer-strung balloon bracket clock
Richard Runcorn, Manchester; fourth quarter 18th century
The well proportioned case with chequer-banded angles accentuating the waisted outline surmounted by a concave moulding with flambeau finial, the moulded base on foliate ball-and-claw feet, convex glazed brass bezel to the cream painted Roman dial signed Richd. Runcorn Manchester with pierced brass hands, the movement with large circular brass plates with five pillars and twin fusees, anchor escapement and strike on bell, the pendulum with calibration sector to the rod and with lenticular bob with brass pendulum holdfast bracket fixed to the base board
