A very fine violin by Jakob Stainer labelled Jacobus Stainer in Absom/prope Oenipontum..1658; the two-piece back of handsome medium curl, the ribs and scroll similar, the table of narrow grain broadening towards the flanks, the varnish of a red gold colour, the length of back 13.15/16in. (35.4cm)
