Depicting the arms of Baron Amherst of Hackney, with a moulded border

Lot Essay

The escutcheon displays the arms adopted by William Tyssen-Daniel-Alhurst, Baron of Amherst of Hackney (d.l892) following his marriage to Margaret Mitford. (d.l899) in l856. He was High Sheriff of Norfolk (l866) and employed the architect Richard Norman Shaw (d.l9l2) to build Didlington Hall, Norfolk around l880.
