Lot Essay

Founded by J.P. Andr in 1835 and based at the Val d'Osne, in he Haute-Marne, the company took over rival firms such as Andr, Barbezat and Ducel. The company participated in the London 1851 and 1862 Great Exhibitions, the 1878 Paris Exposition Universelle and the 1893 Chicago Great Exhibition. It specialised in copying celebrated statues from the Palace of Versailles as well as architectural fittings, but also produced their own original castings.
