The nickel plated three-quarter plate movement with two spring barrels, striped polishing, 53 jewels in screwed chatons, gold alloy balance with micrometer regulation and engraved cock, adjusted to five positions, the matt frosted silvered dial with eccentric engine-turned chapter ring, raised Roman quarter hour marks and lozenge five minute indexes, recessed engine-turned seconds dial, framed double aperture for the date adjusted by a button in the band, sector for 72 hour power reserve indication, platinum hands, in circular platinum case with straight downturned lugs, the glazed back secured by six screws, with maker's leather strap and platinum buckle, guarantee, book of instructions and presentation box, case, dial and movement signed

Lot Essay

The world reknowned company of A. Lange & Shne was re-established in December 1990 as Lange Uhren GmbH by Walter Lange, grandson of the original founder Adolph Lange. The original company, famous for its high quality pocketwatches (see lot 344), was badly damaged in the last days of World War Two and was later requisitioned by the East Germany government.
