A COLLECTION OF MEDITERRANEAN GLASS EYE BEADS
phoenician or carthaginian, circa 6th-2nd century b.c.
Including eight compound eye beads, three with green and white "eyes" on a black ground, one with blue and white "eyes" on a black ground, one with blue and white "eyes" on a turquoise ground, one with blue, amber and white "eyes" on a blue ground, one with large blue "eyes" with white highlights on a turquoise ground, all with protruding yellow knobs, and one with blue, amber and white "eyes" on a turquoise ground with protruding white and yellow knobs; a strand of thirty-one beads with blue and white "eyes" on a yellow ground, graduated in size, with one yellow bead; and a strand of sixty-one beads with blue and white "eyes" on blue ground, graduated in size; together with a strand of twenty spherical monochrome beads now with irridescent white surfaces and a strand of fifty-five modern pale blue sand-cast disk-shaped beads (5)
