Serial No. A9089, Factory Order No. 9111 34, in sunburst finish, with gold-plated metal parts, maple body, spruce top, mahogany neck, nineteen fret bound rosewood fingerboard with double parallelogram inlays, headstock face with crown motif inlay, wooden pin bridge with Maltese cross inlays and imitation tortoise-shell pickguard; and a brown hardshell contour case with Lee Dickson's handwritten tie-on label '50s J-185 Gibson and adhesive paper label similarly inscribed
The J-185 was introduced in 1951.
