A 1970s Gibson Les Paul Recording Model
Serial No. 897024, in walnut finish, mahogany bodywith single cutaway, mahogany neck, twenty-two fret bound rosewood fingerboard with block inlays, headstock face with split diamond inlay, truss rod cover with Les Paul RECORDING lettering, two diagonally mounted pickups, four rotary controls, four selector switches, metal bridge, stud tailpiece and black pickguard signed and inscribed in gold felt pen To Eric my man! - '96, Les Paul; and a black hardshell contour case with purple plush lining and Lee Dickson's handwritten adhesive paper label Gibson Les Paul Signed Les Paul Rec. 97025; the case containing a Gibson strap and two colour photographs of Les Paul signing the guitar, both -- 4x6in. (10.2x5.2cm.)

The Les Paul Recording model was introduced in 1971.

Eric Clapton said that this guitar is a "..recent acquisition.." given to him by a friend. He has played it occasionally.
