Serial No. 38816, in sunburst finish, laminated body with checker-binding, top with f-holes, mahogany neck, nineteen fret rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays, wooden bridge, metal tailpiece and bound imitation tortoise-shell pickguard; and a brown softshell contour case with brown felt lining and Lee Dickson's handwritten adhesive paper label 1938 - Bound Check Body S.Burst F.Holes Gibson-Kalamazoo 8816; case containing a multi-coloured string/strap
Eric Clapton bought this guitar in Memphis primarily for collecting rather than playing purposes. He did tell us however that it was "..around..." during the Pilgrim recording sessions.
