A 1956 Gibson Byrdland
Serial No. A 24857, Factory Order No. V4815 3, in sunburst finish, with gold-plated metal parts, thinline maple body with single round cutaway, spruce top with bound f-holes, maple neck, twenty-two fret bound ebony fingerboard with block inlays, headstock face with flowerpot motif inlay, two Alnico pickups, four rotary controls, selector switch, metal bridge, metal tailpiece and bound imitation tortoise-shell pickguard; and a brown hardshell contour case with pink plush lining and Lee Dickson's handwritten tie-on label Gibson Byrdland '57 sunburst Alnicos Ser. .24857 and adhesive paper label similarly inscribed
The Gibson Byrdland was introduced in 1955.
Eric Clapton recalled that he played "...period" numbers on this guitar such as Reconsider Baby and that he used this guitar on the 1994-5 blues tour. Lee Dickson informed us that Eric used fourteen or fifteen guitars on this particular tour, changing guitar for almost every song he performed. This guitar was also used during recording sessions for the 1994 From The Cradle album.
