Lot Essay

The Francis W. Little house of 1902 shares some details of other 1902 houses such as the Dana house in neighboring Springfield, Illinois and the Heurtley house in Oak Park, but it is the Romanesque arched doorway of the former that most distinguishes it. Like the Dana house, the Little house has a conforming archde and elaborately leaded glass window over its entrance door. The living room of Little's second house of 1912 in Wayzatta, Minnesota can be seen in its entirety in the American Wing of The Metropolitan Museum of Art.

This lot has been requested for loan from the new owner by Exhibitions International, Julie L. Sloane and the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation for inclusion in the exhibition Light Screens: The Leaded Glass Windows of Frank Lloyd Wright beginning in February 2001 until the spring of 2003.
