Lot Essay

The publication of these poems brought together the work of three very different generations of poets. Those who, like Auden, Spender and Betjeman had established their reputations during the Second World War, those like Larkin and Amis who came to prominence in the 1950's, and the 'new bloods' such as Heaney and Adcock.
