KENNEDY, John F., President. Typed letter signed ("John Kennedy") as Senator, to Hannah Cosman, Washington, D.C., 7 January 1955. 1 page, small 4to, on United States Senate stationery, marked in ink at top "Returned," probably in the hand of Evelyn Lincoln, President Kennedy's personal secretary.
The Senator's gracious thanks to a well-wisher, in the wake of his hospital stay at the New York Hospital for Special Surgery for back surgery: "Many, many thanks for your very kind message to me when I was in the hospital in New York. Hospitals are gloomy places, I am afraid, and it makes a tremendous difference when friends remember you as you did. I am feeling much better and am looking forward to getting back to Washington around the first of March. Perhaps then I will have a chance to thank you again in person. Until then, Jackie and I want to wish you and all your family a very happy and successful New Year."
