Lot Essay

According to the vendor, this model originally came from the son of one on the special effects team for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. This model is an almost exact replica of Grandpa's hut into which he disappears from time to time on his fictitious adventures. It was probably used either as a prototype design for the life-sized cabin used in the film, or for distance shots. In the film, mistaking Grandpa for Caractacus, Baron Bomburst's bungling henchmen abduct both Grandpa and the hut by attaching a rope to the hut and hauling them into the sky beneath the Baron's zeppelin. The hut, with Grandpa in it, is then carried off to the Baron's castle in Vulgaria.
