This portrait of the french actor, Monsieur Cardin, with Mary Fairchild MacMonnies and Berthe in the background, was executed in Paris circa 1900-1901. Monsieur Cardin was the first painting that MacMonnies exhibited at the Paris Salon where it received an Honorable Mention.
