A rare device, in the form of a white metal rayed star 3 in. high, the centre mounted with the Motto and Cross of the Order of St. Patrick in gilt and enamel (the enamel backing to the Motto now missing), four screw-post fixings at rear.

Lot Essay

The Irish Guards traditionally received new colour-belts when presented with a new stand of Colours. The badges were removed from the previous belt-plates and presented to Messes or individual senior officers as appropriate.
