MICKEY WALKER PAINTING
A folk farm scene painted by former middleweight champion Mickey Walker. Considered one of the toughest boxers of his day, Walker was one of the most popular athletes of the nineteen twenties and thirties. After his career, Walker took up painting and achieved a great deal of success as an artist hosting many one man shows. Signed boldly in the lower right, Mickey Walker. This painting is illustrated in a photograph of Mickey holding the work in Lawrence Ritter's book East Side West Side-- 15½ x 8½ in.
