Lot Essay

Otto Prutscher (1880-1949) studied at the Arts and Crafts School in Vienna under Josef Hoffman, later becoming a professor there. This flashed and cut glass was designed by him for the firm Bakalowits and Sohne: with its faceted and windowed stem, it is a superlative example of the marriage of colour and geometry.
