Bryan Barrett recalled that a few years after Brian Epstein's death, on returning to London from Liverpool, Queenie Epstein, Brian's mother, pulled this watch out of a crocodile skin case and said to him "I want you to have this". He always understood that it had been a gift to Brian Epstein for his twenty-first birthday. Queenie was very fond of Barrett who continued to work for her after her son's death for a few years.
