Lot Essay

Although of currently unknown provenance, this powder chamber is remarkably similar to other examples (numbered 30 and 31) raised from the wreck of the Hollandia, a V.O.C. ship which foundered in 1743 and closely described volume II of The Visser Collection by R. Roth.
