A GROUP WITH MARU JUJI MON [A CROSS IN A CIRCLE, THE SHIMAZU FAMILY CREST]
Edo Period (19th Century)
Comprising an iron jingasa [war hat] decorated in silver lacquer with cherry-blossom and Maru juji mon scattered; a matchlock, the iron barrel simply inlaid in silver with the same crest and mounted on a wood stock with brass lock-plate; a black-lacquered ebira [quiver], the front and sides with the same crest, the frame with scrolling karakusa in gilt and the back with doeskin printed with cherry blossom; and a pair of stirrups inlaid in silver with cherry blossom and lacquered with the same crest (4)
