2° (479 x 335mm). Etched frontispiece, engraved title and index leaf, one-leaf letterpress memorial, and 60 etched plates by and after Zompini with explanatory verses engraved beneath. (Some light marginal soiling.) 19th-century half roan (worn).

Second edition. Zompini's striking representations of the artisans and itinerant street sellers of Venice first appeared in 1753. The frontispiece and memorial to the artist were added in the present edition. The popularity of the work was enduring, and an English edition was published in 1803, half a century after the publication of the first edition. Colas 3121; Lipperheide 1330.
