ENRICO CARUSO (1873-1921)
A cloth-bound, quarto album containing an interesting collection of memorabilia concerning Enrico Caruso's concert in the Town Hall, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne on Friday September 10th 1909, including:
Photographic portrait reproduction, head and shoulders, a 'mock up' of the concert programme, signed in ink 'Enrico Caruso', various advertising material including a large collection of tickets, an extensive collection of newspaper cuttings regarding the concert and Caruso's visit to Newcastle, a printed concert programme, a number of newspaper cuttings from September 1935 commemorating Caruso's concert 25 years previously.
Also included are two photographs of Caruso in Newcastle with other members of his concert party and a letter from his musical agent, Thomas Quinlan, to the photographer, Charles Nicol of the Grosvenor Studio, saying that Caruso considered these photographs 'amongst the best he has had taken anywhere'.
