CLARA MONTALBA (1842-1929)
Autograph letter, signed 'Clara Montalba', from Venice, 3 December 1877, 4pp, 4°, to Mr and Mrs White, describing Venetian scenes painted by her sister Hilda, she is 'on the way to fame and fortune. The Riva boy at Wallis'...sold on the Private View day!'. She talks of her own work and Venice. The letter is illustrated with three charming pen and ink drawings by Clara Montalba depicting Santa Maria della Salute, the lagoon and the view from the lagoon towards Piazza San Marco.
With a pen and ink drawing of barges at the entrance to the Grand Canal, tissue paper mounted on card, signed and dated 1882 and inscribed on the mount 'with Clara Montalba's affectionate greetings to dear Ina', 89 x 115mm. (slight spotting); and two other letters.
