Etched wall map of ancient Rome, by Jacobus Bos, on 6 sheets, overall size: c.1325 x 1480mm, (largest sheet size: 497 x 740mm, smallest: 395 x 74mm), engraved by Jacobus Bos, title above, with sub-title and dedication to Pope Pius IV in upper left corner. (Laid down on paper, traces of old sealing wax to some margins, occasional small areas of browning and loss, a few repaired tears, and old restoration).
A RARE AND IMPRESSIVE BIRD'S EYE PLAN of Rome's ancients monuments issued for the 16th-century traveller and pilgrim to Rome. Michele Tramezino (fl.1539-62) originated from Venice and established a second publishing house in Rome with his brother Francesco in the 1530s. Jacob Bos engraved maps for the Tramezino brothers and for Lafreri in the mid 16th century. Frutaz XVIIa-b.
