Lot Essay

Camargo's body of work was executed in either painted wood or marble. Both materials allowed him to articulate his concerns about the planar and the volumetric as basic elements of his three-dimensional compositions. The present piece is a later version of a larger sculpture that the artist executed in 1975 that also belonged to Paulo Bittencourt.
