The cast iron end-supports stamped No 17597, and with the diamond patent registration stamp for 6th April, 1844, later re-slatted

Lot Essay

This design, number 17597, is the second oldest seat registered and patented by the Coalbrookdale Foundry at the Public Records Office, on 6th of April, 1844, and is seat number 9 in their 1875 Castings Catalogue, Section III, page 249.
