The panelled back and sides pierced with trailing convolvulus above a geometric patterned seat with scroll apron, on openwork legs with cross-stretchers, stamped NO.2286, REGISTERED COALBROOKDALE and with registration mark for 12th November 1842

Lot Essay

This design, number 2286, was the earliest registered and patented at The Public Record Office by the Coalbrookdale Foundry, Telford, Shropshire on 12th November 1842. The design of the panel illustrated was later incorporated by the foundry into a garden seat.
