An oval silver on copper plate (slightly rubbed) engraved with the Crowned Harp above 1796, and scrolls above and below inscribed L TALBOTSTOWN CAVALRY (fixings removed, two small holes in plate)

Lot Essay

The Lower Talbotstown Cavalry was raised on 31st October 1796 under Captain Richard Hornidge, with apparently 48 soldiers. It was re-raised, under the same officer, in 1803. The date of its final disbandment is uncertain.
