Lot Essay

Sold with an original Membership Booklet for the Intelligence Corps Association, and an engraved plate taken from a presentation piece, the former inscribed, 'Presented to S. Sgt. Roger Paine from all F.I.Os and F.I.N.C.Os, Belfast Region'.

B.E.M. London Gazette 19.9.1978 'In recognition of meritorious services in Northern Ireland during the period 1 February to 30 April 1978'.

Staff Sergeant Roger Paine, B.E.M., was born in December 1949 and enlisted in the Intelligence Corps in February 1967. Attending a Military Intelligence Officer and Field Intelligence N.C.O. Course in July 1976, he went on to serve in an undercover unit in Northern Ireland, very probably 14 Intelligence Company. Described as an Intelligence and Security Operator on his Army Certificate of Qualification, Paine is also verified as having served in the Dhofar operations.
