Lot Essay

It is most unusual to find this design, normally a favourite of the Konya district (for example see one in the Alexander Collection sold in these Rooms 15 October 1998, lot 209; or in the Kirchheim Collection: Orient Stars, Stuttgart and London, 1993, nos.170 and 179, pp.246-7 and 258), rendered in the colours and drawing of the present Mudjur.
