One of the numbered casts is in the collection of A.-A. Hébrard, two further examples are in the collection of Ettore Bugatti.
The French industrialist, Ottore Seib, great-grandfather of the present owner, acquired the sculpture directly from the Hébrard foundry in Paris in 1920 for his villa in Strasbourg. The centrepiece of his collection, the 'Grand Tigre Royal' has remained within the family until now.
The sculpture is sold with a copy of the original photograph and document of authenticity, inscribed on the reverse, Bugatti sculpt Grand tigre stylisé - cire perdue
