Each with a flaming urn with foliate handles, on a spreading fluted plinth, flanked by a panelled crossbar surmounted by foliate urn-shaped finials, above a conforming spreading plinth and a circular fluted support, with iron back-support, one foliate crossbar lacking gilding

Lot Essay

A virtually identical pair of chenets was sold from the collection of George Lurcy at Parke Bernet Galleries, New York, 8 November 1957, lot 174, while a further closely related pair was sold at Etude Tajan, 3 March 1999, lot 40.
