Born in Johannesburg, Hacking moved to the USA in 1990 and now resides in Charleston, South Carolina. Stuck by the bold colours of North America, Grant believes it has added a stronger dimension to his work, but it is the landscape of his native country that has contributed most to his style. He is best known for his African Big Game paintings. "I grew up inspired by the bush and its abundant wildlife. For a painting to be good it has to have mood, it should fill the imagination with the sounds, sights and smells of the scene." His work is exhibited widely in the USA and Europe and can be found in many private and corporate collections around the world.
