A rare Steiff 'Jack Rabbit'
with white and golden mohair head, ears, hand and tail, brown and black glass eyes, pink and black stitched nose and mouth with red felt tongue, velvet lined ears, swivel head, jointed arms wearing purple velvet jacket, pink velvet knickerbockers, rexine lace-up shoes, belt and two brass buttons, button in ear and remains of red tag --8¾in. (22cm.) high to top of head, 1930s (some discolouration)

Lot Essay

This rabbit is almost identical to Steiff's Jack Rabbit, of which 2,780 examples were sold between 1927 and 1931. Jack was a character from an American children's book published by Grosset & Dunlop.
